Pre post care
PRE-PROCEDURE
Ensure to have a good consistent skincare routine (Cleanse, Serum, Moisturise & SPF) to achieve optimal results and to ensure the skin isn’t compromised prior to treatment which can restrict you of this service.
If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, I highly recommend a course of anti-viral medication pre and post treatment. This will prevent an outbreak of cold sores if you are prone to them.
Please inform me if there is any changes to medication, sun exposure or anything that may affect the treatment.
Avoid sun exposure/sunburn for 24 hours prior to treatment.
You should not have an active breakout, active cold sores or open lesions. If this occurs your microneedling treatment will need to be rescheduled.
Wait at least 1 week before or after Botox to have a Microneedling treatment.
Wait 2 week before or after any filler injectables such as Juvaderm, Restylane etc.
Wait 1 month after any laser treatments such as IPL, VBeam etc or Chemical Peels.
Do not have any facial waxing 7 days prior to the treatment.
Discontinue use of actives such as Retinol, Vitamin C, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid etc 5 days prior to the treatment.
POST-PROCEDURE
Only use the SkinPen Rescue Serum for 24 hours.
Do not use any other skincare products for 24 hours.
After 2 days you may begin a GENTLE skincare routine i.e Gentle Cleanser, Sasta topical supplement, Moisturiser and Zinc Oxide SPF along with the SkinPen Rescue Serum.
Avoid intense exercise for 3 days after the treatment.
Avoid sun exposure for 3 days after the treatment.
Do not use any active skincare products such as Retinol, Acids, Vitamin C for 7 days after the treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Day 1 – Mild to moderate redness and swelling, similar to sunburn. No sunscreen or makeup is to be worn.
Day 2 – Some persistent redness and swelling may be present. You may apply sunscreen or makeup.
Day 3 – Most redness, bruising and swelling will have subsided.
Day 4 – Skin will return to normal appearance depending on your own healing response.
Cynosure Elite Plus Laser Treatment
Pre-Treatment
No sun tanning, or use of tanning beds are prohibited during your laser treatments.
No FAKE tan on the areas being treated, tan must be fully removed at least 14 days prior to appointment.
No chemical peels, Botox or fillers on the areas being treated for 2 weeks prior.
No active products like retinol, AHAs, vitamin C 48 hours prior treatment.
Shower and shave the areas being treated 24 hours prior to appointment.
No lotions or perfumes on the areas being treated. (clean dry skin)
Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages 24 hours before your treatment.
Avoid waxing/threading/tweezing in the area for at least 4 weeks.
Wear loose clothing to your appointment.
Any changes to medication, please inform me. Laser cannot be performed when taking photo sensitive medication.
Post-Treatment
Do not rub, scratch, itch or pick at the treated areas.
Avoid tight clothing.
Avoid hot showers for 24 hours.
Avoid intense exercise for 48 hours.
Avoid exposure to the sun. If exposure is expected apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every 2 hours to avoid pigmentation changes to the skin. IMPORTANT: if the skin is exposed to direct sun light (example face) it’s very important to reapply sunscreen every two hours.
If you experience any discomfort (usually not lasting more than a few hours) this may be relieved with cold gel packs and aloe vera gel unscented.
If the area becomes tender, irritated, or shows signs of infection please call me immediately.
PCA Skin Peels Pre & Post Care
Pre Peel Advice
Please inform me if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication for your skin.
Do not expose your skin to the sun for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
Do not use tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
Do not undergo any other facial treatment for 2 weeks prior to a chemical peel treatment. This includes dermaplaning, microneedling, laser, facial fillers and facial waxing/threading.
It is recommended that you temporarily discontinue the use of Retin-A, Renova, Differin, EpiDuo, for a week before treatment.
Products that contain high percentages of AHA and BHA (Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid) and all retinoids that are not part of PCA Skin®’s daily care range should be avoided for approximately 5 days before treatment.
Please do not discontinue prescription medications without consulting with your prescribing physician.
Post Peel Advice
For up to 14 days following your treatment your skin may feel tight, sensitive, dry and you may experience mild flaking skin. This is normal.
To avoid the risk of complications, please follow the below advice.
Do not wash your face for at least 10 hours post treatment.
Avoid direct sunlight and do not use a tanning bed for at least 2 weeks post treatment.
Keep the skin cool – avoid heat, excessive exercise and swimming / steam room / sauna for up to 14 days post treatment.
Do not use facial oils, aqueous / emollient creams and avoid high percentage AHA and BHA products for up to 14 days post treatment.
Do not undergo any facial treatments for at least 2 weeks post treatment. This includes dermaplaning, microneedling, laser, facial fillers and facial waxing / threading.
Do not pick or pull peeling skin.
Protect your skin with a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 and apply only products recommended by me.
